Dr. Crutcher is a Phi Betta Kappa graduate of Miami University and he is the University of Richmond’s first African American President. Dr. Crutcher is the 10th President for the University of Richmond and a national leader in higher education with honorary degrees from Wheaton College, Colgate University, and Muhlenberg College. He is President Emeritus of Wheaton College in Massachusetts where he held the President’s role from 2004 thru 2014.
Dr. Crutcher actively promotes access, affordability, diversity, and inclusivity. He is the founding co-chair of Liberal Education and America’s Promise (LEAP), the Association of American Colleges & Universities’ national campaign to demonstrate the value of liberal education. Dr. Crutcher is actively involved in many local and national for profit, non-profit, and professional organizations.
Dr. Crutcher is a former member of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and several other symphonies. He currently performs in the U.S. and Europe as a member of the Klemperer Trio with Erika Klemperer (Violin) and Gordan Back (piano). He serves on the board of the symphony and has served on the boards of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and Berklee College of Music. Dr. Crutcher was the first cellist to receive the doctor of musical arts degree from Yale.

In 1989 Dr. Velma Scantlebury-White became America's first black female transplant surgeon. In her 16 years at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) and subsequently at the University of Southern Alabama (USA), Scantlebury dedicated herself to increasing the number of kidney transplants for black patients. She took the lead in educating black Americans about donating organs and tissues for transplantation, and as of 2007, she had performed more than 800 cadaver and 200 living-donor transplant surgeries in children and adults. Scantlebury had coauthored more than 100 research publications, monographs, and book chapters and was twice named one of the America's Best Doctors.

My Masculinity Helps explores the role of African American men and boys in the prevention of sexual violence. The goal of this short, 30 minute educational documentary is to engage boys and men, along with women, in the deconstruction of gender roles, masculinity, and power and in the prevention of sexual violence. To help achieve this goal we want to better understand the impact this video has on viewers thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors related to aspects of sexual violence.
